This week’s prompt:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “container.” Use the word “container” any way you’d like. Or think about a container of some kind and write about it. Enjoy!
This is not the subject I intended to write about today, but stuff happens. So I am shifting the proverbial gears and moving on down the highway. Maybe in a container truck.
Boredom took over a few nights ago and I started to watch a show called “The Home Edit” on Netflix the other night. It is a home organization show and I love those although I rarely follow their advice. I did discover that Marie Kondo’s method of folding shirts did not bring me joy, so I am back to folding them the fast way. But I digress.
The show is about two women from Nashville who organize people’s chaos – both of the stars and the more common (but probably still rich) people. First just let me say there could never be a job I could hate much worse than that one, well, dirty toilet cleaning maybe. But I decided to watch anyway.
There are four steps – something like organize, purge, contain and maintain or something like that. And somewhere in there there’s labeling, too. They have their own line of merchandise which is conveniently sold at The Container Store. The biggest takeaway I had was that the world is better organized in rainbow colors – especially children’s book.
This is stream of consciousness, so we are taking a sharp right turn. Remember “I Dream of Jeannie”? She lived in a bottle, aka a container. She was always into some sort of well intentioned mischief. I guess you could say she just couldn’t “ContainerSelf”! 😂😂😂 See what I did there?
I refuse to watch such ‘reality TV’.The problems of the rich hold no interest for me.
But I did used to watch ‘I Dream Of Jeannie’, so that took me back. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I am sure that is exactly the reason they intersperse unknown people in the show. I looked at their website. Their rates average $185 to $250 an hour!

I’d rather clean the toilet than organize people’s chaos. I barely want to organize my own.

Where does the chaos come from? Is it our history or is it just the way we work?

Uh… yes? It’s both…

I like to organize. My problem lies with the fact that while I organize one area I bring chaos to another.
I loved the TV show. Jeanie was awesome.
Yes, I saw what you did there.
Containers are “da bomb.”

It does involve so much mess and clutter before the organization can surface, ugh.

My Lulu would love that! But I am right there with you. It is why I/m still trying to get through a purge I started many months ago. I swear “stuff” keeps multiplying.

I despise ‘stuff’. I wonder why I have so much of it?

Waaa waaa, yes, I see what you did there, lol!! You are such a jokester! I loved Jeannie too, she was a hot mess! 😉

She was, but she had good intentions.

I’ve gotten better at organizing and occasional purging, but I can’t imagine ever being done. Maybe it’s my love of thrift stores and colored glass containers. Now, I have “I Dream of Jeanie” music playing in my head which is not a bad thing. If only I could fold my arms, blink and make my clutter organize itself!

If you get that blinking thing working, please let me know! I could use the help.

I remember Jeanie it was a great show, loved her mother too! I live you pun, “she couldn’t containerself” very clever. But I had reality shows, cooking, cleaning, police, hospitals or even worse celebrities…yuk if I watch TV it too escape reality.🤣🤣🤣

Thanks, Willow. Jeannie was quite the character. I remember reading the censors would not allow her to show her bellybutton on tv. My how things have changed!

I think I’ll pass in the rainbow colored labels. Being colorblind, there wouldn’t be as many useful options 😏
I liked your ride play at the end – nice touch.
I hope you’re having a good weekend.

Are you fully colorblind, Dan, or just certain colors? I am even more impressed with your photography now that I know that. You may have the advantage of always seeing the quality of light that many photographers miss.

Red-yellow-green are confusing to me unless the subject is big. I can see the colors at a traffic light, but the LED red/green indicator lamps on computer equipment are useless (or I am). I can’t tell the difference no matter how close I get. The other end of the spectrum is a blend of interesting grays at the edges, although I see blue OK.
Sometimes, I just smile when people compliment me on my photos, because I don’t see what they like.

Great pun at the end. I love shows that basically are ads for more stuff, in this case containers.
