One Liner Wednesday — Are You Out There?

Day 269

I have been thinking a lot about our last SoCS prompt and how many of us wrote about being introverts. When I saw this quote by my beloved Rod McKuen, I knew it would be my One-Liner Wednesday post!

“Unless you call attention to your presence who will know you’re there?”

Maybe this is why we blog — to call attention to our thoughts and by so doing — bring attention to ourselves.

Why live small and retract from life when living large feels more extraordinary like walking the high wire.

Daring acts of courage — things that make you gasp for breath — aren’t those some of the moments we remember most? I always thought those feelings were fear, but what if they are exhilaration?

When doors open for us, it seems our nature to walk through cautiously. Why? Why not fling that door wide open and run throwing caution to the wind?

This brings to mind a favorite poem by Emily Dickinson:

I’m Nobody! Who are you?

I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us — don’t tell!
They’d banish — you know!

How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one’s name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

Ever heard this accusatory question — Just who do you think you are?

The next time that question floats into your universe, answer with GUSTO!

Ha! I’m me. In all my crazy, introverted, jumbled mix of beautiful humanness.
