SoCS – Road Trip!

It’s that time of the week where we all sit down and let our minds take us on a trip while we travel stream of consciousness style. Linda is driving by giving us a word of encouragement to set us on our way. If you are curious what SoCS is all about, check out Linda’s post for all the details. Join the fun while you are there.

Today’s prompt is as follows:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trip.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Covid changed a lot of things and the one I miss the most is a good road trip. There is nothing like having all the time to hit the open road and head toward a destination, or just drive for that matter. Even if Covid does eventually wane to a livable risk, gas prices will certainly keep us at home for the foreseeable future.

The best part of a road trip is having a CD of road tunes. Or better yet a cassette if you really want to do some time travel on the way. Remember those days? Sitting at your comouter, pulling up iTunes, making a playlist, then burning it to a CD? My computer does not even have a CD reader anymore! I even bought printable CDs. My Epson printer had a device to insert the CD into and I could print the song list and a cool cover. I made CD’s for my daughter when she planned a road trip, too.

No, no, no. You can’t just listen to the radio or stream music on Sirrius. One must be in control of the mood. You might need a CD of Songs to Sing or a CD of Songs with a Beat or a CD of Oldies. Do you catch my drift?

There are a few songs that must be on my road trip CD.

  1. Running Down a Dream
  2. On the Road Again
  3. Baby You Can Drive My Car
  4. Fast Car
  5. Day Tripper
  6. Bohemian Rhapsody
  7. Going Up the Country
  8. I’ve Been Everywhere
  9. Life is a Highway
  10. End of the Line

That might be my first playlist. (If only I still had iTunes and a CD burner!)

But now the bigger question in my mind is if you felt comfortable to strike out on a good old fashioned road trip, what would you choose for your first destination? I am not sure where I would go, but it would definitely be west.
