Welcome to day twenty-eight of Just Jot It January for 2023 combined with SoCS. Today’s prompt from Linda is ’throw in the towel’.
Did you know there is a fingernail polish color named “Throw in the Towel”? I wonder what mood might inspire me to wear it? Do women buy products based on the name? Well, perhaps not totally but it sure does help.
Take my daughter for instance. She wears the same lipstick color everyday. It is called “Sorry Not Sorry”.
My sister loved to go to the casinos in Cherokee to play the slots. She always had a manicure before going and loved to wear “Royal Flush Blush” polish on her nails. I don’t know if it was her or the polish but she always had good luck!
It made me think I should come up with a line of colors just for women of a certain age (my certain age). I could see a nice blush pink I would call ‘Hush I’m Napping’ or perhaps a black and blue evening polish I would label ‘My Aching Knees’.
I think I might be on to something.

Haha, I do buy things (or not) based on the name. Or at least it influences me. I’m just a sucker for words! I like your old lady names!

Names of anything are fun. That would be great to name fingernail polishes, and also paint colors! 🙂

I am sure the lot of us could come up with a few more.

I love the names you selected for this post, Maggie – fun, whimsical, symbolic – maybe they bury themselves in our intentions!

I had no idea that cosmetics had such strange names. If I was a user, those silly names might well put me off of buying them. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I think they are definitely geared toward a young female market, Pete.

Having just repainted many rooms in my house I have been amazed that paint companies can still come up with new names for white and blue. But I found I did lean toward names I liked and ended up with Honeysuckle and Bluebird!

Those both sound delightful. In our first house we had a horrible yellow bathroom that glowed as if it were radioactive. I found a beautiful pale lilac color named “Paris Bistro”. The name helped sell me on the color – and it was way better than that awful yellow.

Great name. Not sure how they connected it with lilacs, but it worked to sell the color.

It did, indeed. To me, Paris seemed like spring at that moment!

I think you definitely are Maggie ,we could have a blood red called step away now, and a purple with silver sparkles called what did you say, and a forest green called what did I come up stairs for?

I haven’t bought nail polish or lipstick in years, but “Hush I’m Napping,” sounds like fun. Keep us posted on this project. 😉
