I woke to a hard rain pounding the roof this morning. Normally I like to sleep through the rain but since it was morning, I simply took the opportunity to lie and listen. There is no changing the weather.
“The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Longfellow lead an interesting life. I do not think I mentioned it here, but in December I went to see the movie “I Heard the Bells” with my friend. It was a good Christmas movie to see. I never knew the backstory of how Longfellow came to write this beloved Christmas carol.
Now before this turns into an SoCS post, I will leave you with this.

We have sunshine today after 2+ inches of rain yesterday. I welcome the change.

Ah…I’d forgotten about that tune and Ronnie Milsap’s lovely voice. Thanks, Maggie!

Somehow, Ronnie Milsap had passed me by until now. A lovely voice!

My favorite Ronnie Milsap song. The only thing that possibly exceeds his voice in this video is his hair. Ahh, the 80’s.

Yes, the 89s were all about the hair. Ronnie’s voice has always felt soothing to me.

By coincidence, it is also raining here today. In additon we have fog, with visiblilty down to around 100 feet in open country. 😦
Best wishes, Pete.

It stopped overnight. Just damp and gloomy today, but much warmer than it has been, up to 8C.

Hopefully it continues to clear up, Pete. I know the gloomy weather is hard on you.

I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but do you know… I always thought that song was Smoky Mountain Range.🤦🏼♀️ Apparently I never actually paid attention to the lyrics. But agree with the others, love his voice!

What I remember was, when he was nominated for a Grammy, Burl Ives, who was presenting it, kept calling him “Mislap.”

My little brother and I used to get into the 1948 Packard one cushion seat each and listen to the rain. I hadn’t thought of that in a while until I read this. Thanks.
