Welcome to day thirteen of Just Jot It January for 2023. Today’s word is reversal.
I was perplexed about how to use the word today. Only one thing popped up in my mind – it had to do with the work hubby had done for his entire career. I thought I would ask him to see if he thought of the same thing.
“What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word ‘reversal’?
(He is accustomed to these odd questions when I am blogging.)
He smiled. “Financial transactions.”
Reversals are financial transactions that reverse a previous transaction. I never worked in the financial sector, but he did for his entire career. I learned by association and after work conversations. When we first married, we walked every evening after work. We often vented our frustrations from the day which allowed us to get it out of our system before retiring for dinner and some evening relaxation.
It pays to listen to your spouse. You never know when that exchange will come in handy.

Yes, and when I’ve returned something, I ask for reversal of the payment.

We usually refer to that as requesting a refund.

I would never have known that use of the word, Maggie. My first thought was ‘Reversal of Fortune’, a very good film based on the true story of Claus Von Bulow, starring Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close.

Thanks, Pete. I have not seen that film for ages, but I remember it as being a good film.

That was my first thought too Maggie. The second was a reversal of fortunes in war!

It was a challenging word, Peter. This was the only thing that rose to the surface for me.

I like what you did with this word. My first thought was a reversal of an opinion. Like Maya Angelou says, “when you know better, you do better.” Hugs, C
