I love cooking but I have come to the conclusion I need a sous-chef de cuisine. Someone to do all the measuring and chopping and setting up my station with all the ingredients set up ready for me to create!
Today I am attempting to make fresh rolls to make meatball subs using the meatballs I made yesterday. I love bread making (even if it does not turn out the smell is divine! 😂) but there are a few steps I could allow someone else to prepare for me.
Then I need a dishwasher. I am THAT cook that seems to dirty more dishes than necessary. I am not crazy about the cleanup that follows one of my forays into new recipes.
I would love to be that cook that waltzes into the dining room without flour in my hair, guests seated with anticipation in their eyes as I say, “Prepare to be amazed!” Unfortunately I’m not quite there yet!

I am thankful that Tim is the dishwasher. He’s not a good sous chef, however. Here in Quebec, there is VERY limited counter space for food prep, so I’m keeping to my minimalist tendencies. But I do tire of chopping and prepping vegetables; I totally get the appeal of pre-chopped, although I’m too cheap to buy vegetables that way. Hope your rolls turned out well!

I do not like pre-chopped vegetables. They tend to be dry I on the chopped edges. We have a system of sharing kitchen responsibilities that works for us. Hubby loves to cook, but I am picky with my chopped veggies.

Someone to do the prep is an ideal situation. That makes cooking a breeze.

It would certainly streamline things, Sadje.

Definitely! I have sometimes help who preps things for me and it makes cooking so easy.

It is, but they are messy so mostly I do my own cooking.

I love to cook and I wash everything while cooking. As soon as you finish, the kitchen is clean.

I try to do that as well. That is why I love soups and things with long cooks. It gives me a lot of time to clean as I go.

I have tried to cook most things, but I never bake bread, or make cakes. When my wife does that, it takes longer to clear up the mess than to eat the results. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I agree that the smell of making bread is reward enough even if the results are disastrous!

It did smell divine. The bread turned out ok, but I will try a different recipe the next time.
