SoCS & JusJoJan – A Cold and Windy Day

Today’s post is a combination SoCS and a JusJoJan (rules here) post, both hosted by fellow blogger Linda Hill. Check out Linda’s place to get the scoop on SoCS .

Today’s prompt is as follows:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “let go.” Write about the first thing that comes to mind when you think “let go.” Enjoy!

I woke to a dusting of snow and a cold and blustery day. After fixing a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and grits, I settled into reading my book – The Last Bookshop in London. I am enjoying this story set in London just as Britain joins the war against Germany.

I felt my eyelids turn heavy and I found myself closing my eyes. The heat of the sun coming through our windows made me feel warm and cozy. I felt like my cat who always searched out a sunbeam to enjoy. I could not let go of the warmth of the sun so I succumbed, closing  my book and drifting into a short morning nap.

Now the birds are calling me to feed them. They are enjoying the sun warming the leaves on the trees, but unlike me they are called to eat rather than rest.
