I spend so little time out these days. I had a rare few minutes in the grocery store and was delighted to hear some favorite songs playing in the background. Who needs concerts when we have the grocery store?

Fortunately many stores in the UK have stopped playing background music. I avoid any shops that still carry on this torture!

My local supermarket plays music, and most of the time I hardly notice it. However, on Monday I was in the dairy aisle when I heard ‘Peg’ by Steely Dan playing. One of my all-time favourite bands! I stood still until the track finished.

Maggie, most stores don’t play music. At least I don’t notice it. I am not sure what that means.

I clearly remember joking in college that one day they would be playing this music in elevators and nursing homes. I didn’t expect that I would be right!
