SoCS – Resolve or Dissolve

Happy New Year. Today’s post is a combination SoCS and a JusJoJan (rules here) post, both hosted by the lovely and talented Linda Hill. Check out Linda’s place to get the scoop on SoCS and check out all the great responses.

Our first prompt of the new year is as follows:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “resolve.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

Here we are celebrating the first day of a brand new year. welcome 2022! I hope you are kinder and gentler than your predecessor.

We still have many challenges facing us locally, nationally, and globally, but I think perhaps the biggest challenge might be finding a way to resolve our differences.

If the pandemic taught us anything, it showed us how interconnected we are. There was a time in my life when the other side of the globe seemed distant and almost unreachable. It no longer feels that way.

If we cannot resolve differences with our friends, family, and neighbors, how can we hope to live together in a global community?

My camellias are blooming. They produce beautiful pink, red, and white flowers. But guess what? The squirrels eat the flowers as fast as they appear. Yesterday I was complaining about those @%#& squirrels eating my camellias – then I decided to walk a mile in their tiny little clawed feet. It is winter and the food supply is scarce. So, I have resolved to let the squirrels have their food and I will enjoy the flowers for the short time they are here.

Hopefully, there is a lesson in there somewhere. Resolving our differences does not necessarily mean eliminating those differences. Sometimes it means finding common ground where there does not appear to be any. I call that hope.

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.”
