You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

Yesterday I had Vertigo again all day. I made the decision about 10:30 pm to go take medication even though I new it would make me sleepy and lethargic for the next 24 hours.

I was on the phone chatting with a friend as I made my way into the kitchen. I saw something out of the corner of my eye. A snake – in my living room. I hung up the phone, cursed under my breath and tried to call hubby (who is in KY camping with little or no cell service) to no avail. I am not sure what I thought he could do to help me but there you go. Logic goes out the window when we panic.

I decided to don my boots as I was barefoot and not knowing what kind of snake it was decided to err on the side of caution. Of course, in the interim the snake made its way under the couch.

Just how was I going to get this snake out of my house with vertigo which does not lend itself to bending over and changing head positions. I had a fleeting thought of calling someone to help, but that seemed ludicrous at the hour. I thought about leaving the house but with vertigo I knew I could not drive. So it was just me against the snake.

I poked around the couch and under it as best I could until I finally saw it resting against the base board. I put the broom on top of it and pulled it toward the open floor. Voila. It took four strong sweeps to get it toward the open door, but finally it worked. I went outside sweeping it away from the house then came in, closed the door and sighed a huge sigh of relief.

Thankfully it was a small snake. Maybe 14-16 inches long. I did not take the tIme to try and figure out what kind of snake it was. I was just glad it was out of the house.

Today I have slept most of the day and am still suffering from some vertigo. I will go outside and water the garden – being outside seems to help. Looks like more meds and another lethargic day tomorrow. Thankfully I have all that I need and no requirements to do much of anything except water the garden.
