This week’s prompt:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “nerve.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
My parents had a habit of saying “you are getting on my last nerve” which roughly translated meant ‘this is your last warning. Shut your mouth, clear the decks, and scram while there’s still time‘. My parents’ bark was worse than their bite, but no way we were prepared to challenge them. I mean we were brave, but not that brave.
I started thinking about Saturday morning cartoons. I kept thinking there was a cartoon character that said “oh the noive” but if there was I was unsuccessful in pulling it from my mental archives. All I could come up with was the Cowardly Lion from “The Wizard of Oz”. Maybe I mixed them up. Help a fellow blogger out. If there was a cartoon character that said something close to that, drop it in the comments. Elmer Fudd? Bugs Bunny? Snagglepuss?
Now I can’t get this song out of my head. Oh, the nerve of it all!
I’m not positive, you could look it up on YouTube, but I think it was Bugs Bunny!

I also think it was Bugs.

I think Bugs Bunny would say “the nerve of that character” when referring to Marvin the Martian (one of my favorite characters.

Yes, I found that reference, Dan. Thanks!

I loved Saturday morning cartoons. As others have said, pretty sure it was Bugs Bunny.

Yes, it was indeed Bugs Bunny, the rabbit with the Brooklyn accent. No idea how Mel Blanc came up with the voice, but it was pure genius…

Mel Blanc was a genius.

My parents woud say “You are geting on my nerves now”. Always plural, never singular.
Best wishes, Pete.

I shared the Cowardly Lion song, too. I bet the three stooges said something about the noive. But I’m NOT a stooges fan.

That rings a familiar bell, too, JoAnna. I watched a lot of three stooges as a kid, but the slapstick wears off.
