This week’s prompt:
Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “in the corner.” Write about whatever the image or thought of “in the corner” brings to mind. Have fun!
“in the corner”
In the corner was where my grandmother kept her brooms propped up. There were no closets for things like that. They were just leaned against the wall ready to grab. My hubby installed a rack to hang up our broom, mop, fan blade cleaner, Swiffer, etc. Thank goodness because I do not have closets like that either.
There is a song that comes to mind hmmm hmmm “brighten the corner where you are…” or something like that. I can remember the tune but not many of the words.
I like to write about my little corner of the world. Are there corners in our world? I feel like there are. I am nestled in the foothills at the base of the mountains. Feels like a corner.
I remember my mom singing this song:
My hat it has three corners
Three corners has my hat
And had it not three corners
It would not be my hat
It was one of those song you sing in rounds. Each round eliminating a word and replacing it with a gesture. ‘Hat’ was replaced by touching the head, ’three’ was replaced by holding up three fingers, and ‘corners’ was replaced by gesturing a right angle with your fingers. Now I will have that song stuck in the corner of my mind for the remainder of the day.
I tip my three cornered hat to those doing ‘JusJoJan’ this year. I will be writing, curled up in the corner of my big overstuffed chair so I will not attempt it this year.
