My latest order from King Arthur Flour came a few days ago. I have been so excited waiting for this order to arrive.
What did I order yo ask? Flour. But not just any flour. I ordered their 00 flour for making the most silky and luscious pizza dough. At one time I could buy 00 flour at several grocery stores, but no more.
You might think we are having pizza tonight, but au contraire! Tonight pizza rolls are on the menu.
When we lived in Florida we frequented a little family Italian restaurant named “Munchees”. Their Italian food was really good and my favorite appetizer was what they called ‘Munchee Rolls”. They were similar to mini calzones.
In actuality, I think most people refer to them as pizza rolls. So, tonight I am attempting to make our homegrown version of pizza rolls/munchee rolls.
Wish me luck. The dough is rising as we speak!
Oh, what fun! That 00 flour undoubtedly is wonderful. The right kind of flour makes all the difference.
I’ve turned into a devoted Bob’s Red Mill Organic Whole-Wheat flour baker (for everyday bread and all sorts of other things) after many years of using King Arthur flour. They’re the real deal, too.

Lisa, the flour was wonderful. What a silky dough it produced. Unfortunately, it did not rise. Perhaps the yeast, perhaps the temperature in my rather cool house. I was able to coax a rise, but it certainly did not have the result I hoped for!

It was a bit of a failure, I’m afraid.

Well, it was not nearly as great as it was in my mind.

I have had a full size Calzone, but never heard of pizza rolls. To be honest, I just buy pizzas already made. But only the best available here, the thin and crispy ‘Pizza Express’ brand. I am sure yours were delicious, Maggie.
Best wishes, Pete.

Well, Pete, I wish I could say they were delicious, but honestly, they were a disappointment. I will try again another day.

Dough is tricky isn’t it. Here’s hoping it works better the next time. I am such an old grouch that I miss their old logo. Oh well. They didn’t ask me about the redesign.

Iit is tricky. Especially in a cold kitchen with cold granite countertops. I will try again someday…

It is hard to find that warm spot they always mention in recipes.

It is. Especially when it’s cold in the house.

Yay! I hear King Arthur is the best! We just made a Pizza Braid with their flour… and little pepperonis… it was yummy.

Man! Mine were a big flop. My house is kinda cold and the dough just didn’t rise. Maybe the yeast? Maybe the cold house? I am glad yours was good though. I looked at the recipe on the flour and it calls for two rises and takes a long while. Might try the pro’s recipe the next time. Glad yours was good!
