This will be short and sweet.
I finished my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo this afternoon. Of course, that does not mean the novel is complete – I just reached 50,000 words in 30 days. It was a push at the end because I sloughed off in the middle and lost a couple of days of writing.
I am feeling accomplished.
30 days of InkTober and 30 days of NaNoWriMo in the books!
Tomorrow I hope to just enjoy the festivities surrounding the holidays – locked down of course!
Yay! For sure. Enjoy December as a quiet time. Enjoy those family FaceTimes and other video sharing!

Thank you, Fandango. I was happy to see that word count roll over.

Well done, Maggie. Those 50000 words are a great start and with that behind you, the rest should flow from your fingers. That’s what I tell myself every 1st December, anyway and it’s worked for the past six years.
Enjoy December and the run-up to the big day and have the best Christmas you can.

Thank you, Keith. I don’t know about words flowing from my fingertips but that would be amazing. Wishing you a wonderful holiday as well.

Are you planning to publish, Maggie? I will promote your book on my blog, and definitely buy a Kindle copy too! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I think I need to re-read and see how it reads. Writing quickly does not lend itself to being well-written. That is very kind of you to offer, Pete, and I may take you up on it.

Sometimes, writing quickly is from the heart. Too much consideration later leads to over-thinking. Go with your instinct. 🙂

There are sections that are good, and there are sections that are in need pf the editing process for sure.

What comes next with the novel? Are you pleased with the way it went enough to polish it?

Next comes some re-reading, then a decision about finishing and polishing. It is definitely a sh**ty first draft.

But is the basic concept still compelling enough to do all that.

Yes, although it will not appeal to all readers, I know.

I look forward to it. Since it is by you it will appeal no matter the plot.

Well done. Many congratulations. I’ve only completed NaNo once so I knew how tough it is. Doesn’t matter how bad a first draft it – you have something there to work with now.
