The bars are not attached to the sled. They are attached at the top to the course. The driver holds them and slides back and forth to gain momentum, then lets go, lying down in the sled using their weight and centrifugal force to guide them. LikeLiked by 1 person

I know nothing about luge. Are those bars on the sides to hold onto?
