This is my first foray into InkTober. I thought I could use some artistic inspiration. Below are the suggested prompts for the month.

All I had were a handful of Sharpies, so here you go.

Music Icons

Yesterday we lost two icons of music from my generation. Both 78 years old, each one had different impacts on my life.

Helen Reddy will always be heralded for her anthem “I Am Woman”. To lose her in 2020 is a reminder not only of how far we have come, but also how much we stand to lose.

Of course, this was not her only hit, but will always be the one that marked an era in time that we thought we would never see again.

Then the news of Mac Davis, also 78 years old. He had a variety show on NBC for two years (1974-1976) and is well known for writing a few of Elvis’s hits. I most remember him for the song “Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me”.

Mac Davis was considered a country Musician. Funny, though, his music always felt more contemporary to me. But he leaves us with lovely memories.

“Music, once admitted to the soul, becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies.”
