I am not a fan of reading the news these days, especially in the morning. But, this morning I was excited to read the CNN article documenting the change in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” with Mavin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” taking the number one spot, unseating “Dr. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
I am a big Beatles fan, too, but I am glad to see the music list updated.
With 154 new albums to the top 500 and 86 from this century, Wikipedia editors are going to have a lot of editing on their hands.
I have not read through the entire list on Rolling Stone, but I will. Right now I am enjoying listening to Marvin Gaye while I savor my last cup of coffee.
I doubt music will ever chart complete albums like in those days. I wouldn’t have guessed Marvin Gaye, but it’s good to see.

Music tastes vary immensely from one person to another, Dan. I was happy to see this one on the list, though. 😁

I can only presume the recent interest in the BLM movement has rekindled Marvin’s classic album and boosted its rating. I owned it on vinyl a long time ago, but have no idea where it is now.
Best wishes, Pete.

Good music knows no timeframe, Pete. I am sure people will disagree, but I cannot get that invested with it. I just like what I like.

The Grateful Dead only had two of their albums make it with Workingman’s Dead being listed at 409 and American Beauty coming in at 215. There is so much garbage on this list, that I have lost all respect for Rolling Stone Magazine.

I guess we are all entitled to our opinion, Jim. As you know, I myself am not a Grateful Dead fan. To each his own.

I swear Maggie, you keep sending me back to my just before conceiving my daughter year! Love all that music. Embarrass her every time by connecting it to her beginnings! LOL

My daughter grew up with my music. It was great music, too! Nice to see you connect to no it as well.

I love the Marvin Gaye album, but the Beatles will always be my number 1.

I like them, too, but I had a deep connection to Motown!
