Today the challenge is your favorite film set in a fantasy world.
My definition of a fantasy world might be different than you definition, so I am going with mine, okay?
Today, I am selecting the movie “Beetlejuice” starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Geena Davis, and Alec Baldwin. This 1988 film directed by Tim Burton is another family favorite. We have not watched it in a while, so it might be time to dust off the DVD.
I decided to take on this challenge for July after reading about it from SandmanJazz. Check out his blog and his entry for the twenty-second day of the challenge. Maybe even join in!
My choice for fantasy is this dark tale from Spain, about a young girl who escapes into her own fantasy world to avoid the horrors of the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. Beautifully filmed and acted, it is a film you never forget.
Best wishes, Pete.

At first I was going to say the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy; but then I read a blog and I realized that my favorite is The Princess Bride. Six months ago it might have been the trilogy. Today I love the humor of The Princess Bride.

This is an absolute classic. Michael Keaton was the perfect choice to play his character.

John, it is interesting to think that Tim Burton originally wanted Sammy Davis Jr. for this role.

That is wild. I’m sitting here imagining that. I think he would have been fun to watch also.
