Today the challenge is to find a film that made me cheer at the cinema. I thought about not writing for today’s prompt just because the thing that annoys me is talking, cell phones, texting, etc. at the theater. I suppose if it is a film everyone gets caught up in and everyone has the same reaction, it is a different thing.
SPOILER ALERT!!
I honestly cannot recall any film when I cheered at the cinema. I even tried to remember if there was a film I watched at home that caused me to cheer out loud. Nothing. Nada. So, I am opting for a movie in which I was happy when they got the “bad” guy. That would be “Avatar”.
This movie struck a chord because I am so saddened by our current disregard for the earth and its resources. I know it is not the right thing to wish for someone else’s demise, but I will allow myself that momentary weakness since it is not reality.
I decided to take on this challenge for July after reading about it from SandmanJazz. Check out his blog and his entry for the eleventh day of the challenge. Maybe even join in!

I have never cheered in the cinema. Over here, that would have been considered very to be ‘bad form’. 🙂 However, I once found myself clapping at the end of a film, much to the amusement of those sitting around me. It was at the showing of ‘Pulp Fiction’, when the ending in the cafe went full circle from the opening scene. I thought it was a simply marvellous plot device, and Tarantino had excelled himself. So I clapped. And everyone looked at me as if I was mad.
Best wishes, Pete.

I had to go watch the clip to remind myself about the movie. The violence made it a film I would not have watched more than once.

It was incredibly violent, I agree.

I don’t remember if I ever cheered at the end of a movie. I remember a few loud ‘yeahs’ during movies. Like when the Arab pulls a sword and comes at Indiana Jones, and Indy pulls out a gun and shoots him.

I never saw Braveheart surprisingly. I think we have it on DVD. Perhaps I should pull it out and watch it.

I love Avatar. It’s the most beautiful movie I’ve ever seen.. I’m not sure if I cheered but do remember sobbing in the cinema at one point. Thankfully there were many good scenes after that that made me grin from ear to ear.

There were certainly some sad scenes that reveal the holes in our humanity.

Big holes. But there is hope. Maybe we can learn.

Loved Avatar! I’ve seen it so many times! BTW…not all Marines are like the Gunny. I’m hard sometimes, but not that hard! LOL!

Oh, I know that! I have tons of military people in my family (me included). It served the plot well, though.

At the end of the film on Toni Morrison “The Pieces I Am” the very sedate audience broke out in applause, me included.
