SoCS / JusJoJan – French Kiss

Linda tossed us a movie prompt today. Here’s what she had to say about the prompt today:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “movie title.” Take the title of the last movie you watched (just the title, not the premise of the movie), and base your post on that title.Have fun!

Buckle up kids. We are time traveling back to puberty. Remember this is stream of consciousness, so here goes!

Remember the excitement of being young? When everything was new and your life was filled with firsts and new experiences? Getting that permission from your parents to date was a landmark for all of us.

My parents gave me all the required parent/child talks, but when I think back I realize they came from the “Dragnet” school of sex education. “Just the facts, ma’am.” I knew what was happening to my body, I knew how babies were made, but the gory details of dating were never fully revealed.

Remember “the rush”? That all over the body tingling when you got your first kiss? I remember what it was like to go to the movies when I first started to date. There was the parent drop-off. At least with my parents. I was dropped off at the movie theatre where they waited with me until my ‘date’ arrived.

We always sat in the balcony away from everyone else if possible. Once the previews and the dancing hotdogs had completed their dance, the lights were dimmed and the feature film began. I am not so old that I cannot remember the excitement of the hand holding and the arm creep around the shoulders.

My first real boyfriend Chuck and I went to the movies often. We sat in the balcony and made out until my lips were almost bruised. Then, one day out of the blue came the French kiss. I was surprised by it. It appeared unexpectedly like a thief in the night. My parents did not tell me about this. I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. This was definitely something I would need to talk over with my good friend Cindy.

I had plenty of talks about what nice girls did and didn’t do. But since I had never been told about the French kiss, I just went with the assumption that it was AOK.

If you are picturing any of this story in your mind, please picture it awkward. It was exciting but it was awkward. At the time I didn’t think so. It was all romance and all about the rush.

I told hubby what I was writing about this morning and how unfortunate it was that ”French Kiss” was the last movie we watched. Since we had recently seen “Ford Vs. Ferrari” at the theatre, he said I could write about that. I laughed and said “but that wasn’t the last movie we saw”.  Ha! I am such a rule follower.

Today’s prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday and Just Jot It January are both supplied by Linda Hill. She must be a dynamo to keep up with all of this. Linda, I hope you realize how many writers and blog posts you inspire!
