I have been absent here for the weekend. We have had family here since Friday evening and the weekend was packed with family activities. Our daughter and our granddaughters drove up to spend the weekend and just have some much appreciated family time. Her husband stayed home to care for their five dogs. We always miss him and appreciate the sacrifice he makes so we can have this time together.
Saturday we spent the day doing crafts. We painted 3-D balsa wood scenes and made some stitched ornaments for the tree. There was much eating of candy and making brownies and just enjoying the day. We had a lot of fun.
We had tickets to go see the Winter Lights display at the North Carolina Arboretum. One of our other daughters and her family were planning to meet us there for a fun huge family outing. Unfortunately, two of them were really sick so they were not able to join us.
Winter Lights is one of the Arboretum’s biggest fund raisers and it is such a nice event. The weather was clear and the temps hovering in the mid-low 40° F range. We were all bundled up and ready to walk through the lights. As always, it was magical. We enjoyed Smorés by the fire pit and strolled with hot cocoa or warm apple cider. It was such a nice evening.
All in all, a very good weekend. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if everyone could have been there.
Sounds like a great family weekend, Maggie. And the light show is lovely indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.

Everyone appears to be on the mend, Dan. Thank you. I like the trees, too. They are automated so the lights change constantly.

In Oregon we had the chance to go to the outdoor light displays at The Grotto and at the zoo. Here the lights are all drive-through. You tune your radio to the lights as you drive. It’s nice but not nearly as satisfying as walking through. It is warmer though!

Charleston, SC has a drive-through lights display, too, as do many cities. We do love walking through the display.

Yes – I tried them once and realized how hard they were and so I was so impressed with how beautiful yours were!!! I had a heart attack at the end of August and my life has flipped upside down – the heart medications makes me sooooo tired – I’m just not with it and I’m going nuts having no energy – I’m hoping 2020 is better!!!!
