SoCS – Scrat and Other Nuts

No matter what is on her plate, Linda Hill always makes time for us to gather here with our stream of consciousness meanderings. Thank you, Linda! Today’s prompt is:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “nuts.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

The first thing that came to mind was the character Scrat in the Ice Age movies. When you have grandchildren, I guarantee you will watch movies like this over and over which could drive you nuts unless you love them as much as we do.

Scrat is a squirrel-like creature who is always on a journey for what appears to be the last acorn before or after the Ice Age. It is an often futile effort, much like the coyote’s attempts to catch the roadrunner.

Love is another thing that can drive us nuts. Especially when you confuse infatuation with love as in this clip.

WordPress has been driving me nuts lately. Maybe I have been over-taxing it and my followers with the number of posts I put up when copying some of my short fiction pieces over to my blog.

We also eat a lot of nuts in this household. Mostly cashews, walnuts and almonds. I love eating nuts with apples or pears. Yummy. And we always plop a few nuts on top of our salads. Last night I picked a huge bowl of lettuce mix from our garden so we could eat it before the threat of frost. My favorite part of the salad was the fresh dill and the arugula. And you may think I am nuts, but that reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from the broadway show “Into the Woods”. Bernadette Peters was amazing as the witch.

Time to shut this post and move on to writing my novel for Nano which also may drive me nuts!

Check out all the rules on Linda’s blog. Then check the comments to read all the other SoCS posts for today.
