OneLinerWednesday – Beauty

Day 354

My days are getting easier as my daughter gets stronger. I have more time as she does not need as much help as she did a few days ago.

This morning I am sitting on the newly cleaned patio, before the heat of the Florida sun makes sitting out here unbearable. I am sipping my coffee, watching the butterflies and the hummingbirds partake of the tiny red blossoms on the firecracker plant.

The pool is inviting, but I am content to just sit in this moment and enjoy it. All my senses are alert. The smell of morning, the warm humid feeling on my skin, the taste of my slightly sweetened coffee, the movement of the green fronds of the palm tree swaying slightly with the breeze, and the sounds of a small town awake and at work.

Nature and life are amazing. Most days we let it pass without acknowledgement. What a shame. Every breath of the beauty surrounding us can renew our spirits. All we are tasked to do is just pause for a moment and take it in.

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. Nice quote from Emerson, Maggie.
We have had dark skies and rain here, followed by sunshine and 77 degrees.
Lots of seasons to admire here today, and it’s still only 3 pm. πŸ™‚
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. The quote is perfect as is your description of your early morning hours. Stop and be aware of beauty is a wonderful approach to living. I’m glad your daughter is doing better.
