Day 349
Today is Stream of Consciousness Saturday brought to us again by Linda Hill. The prompt Linda has given us this week is:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “weigh/way/whey.” Use one, use ’em all, bonus points if you do that last thing. Enjoy!
I cannot help but remember 23 years ago we dodged another hurricane. We had planned our wedding at my soon to be sister-in-law’s house in Charleston, SC when Fran turned and headed straight toward us.
The city offices were closing so we had to rush to get our license. We could not get fresh flowers. The bakery could not make our cake because they had to focus on bread. The minister could not meet with us as planned. Our guests that had to fly in started to cancel and we were fortunate our caterer let us adjust our headcount at the last minute. It was not the way we had thought it would go.
On Friday the storm turned. The whey-like clouds parted and it was a beautiful evening for our rehearsal dinner. On Saturday, it was beautiful and everything went off without a hitch. We had less than fresh flowers but the FRESHEST cake ever! It was perfect.
If I weigh the stress of that week to the happiness we have shared over these 23 years, there is no comparison. Happiness wins out hands down.

Congratulations on those 23 years, Maggie. Julie and I have been married for 10 years on Tuesday. Second time for her, third for me! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Good grief, you had your wedding woes. Yet here you are still married, so maybe how you start isn’t as important as how you get along as you go along. Happy Anniversary.

Ally, it was a bit of chaos in the beginning, but here we are — still standing. Thank you for the anniversary wishes.

Lauren, it was crazy but looking back, the storm was almost insignificant in the life we would share.
