Special Blogger Award Nomination

Day 316, Part Two

Yesterday, I checked my spam comments and this nomination had somehow ended up in my spam comment folder. Nothing from this blogger could ever be spam so I hope that problem has been rectified.

My nomination came from the lovely Ribana who is well known for her blog PopsicleSociety.com. I am honored to receive the nomination. Thank you for finding my blog somewhat worthy of this recognition. Please check out Ribana’s blog. She always has something interesting and uplifting to write about — today it was all about basil which was fascinating!

The rules as copied from Ribana’s blog:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Answer the questions you are asked (if you’re comfortable doing so!)
  3. Create 10 questions for the bloggers you’ve nominated
  4. Nominate at least 3 bloggers for the Special Blogger
  5. Comment on your nominee’s most recent blog post to let them know you’ve nominated.
  6. Have fun!

These are the questions posed to me and my responses:

  1. Do you enjoy your life? Very much so! Even in the most difficult times, life has something beautiful for us.
  2. Did you achieve any of your dreams so far? Dreams in my life have come and gone as I grow and change. I have achieved so many of the things I hoped to and for that, I am thankful.
  3. A cottage by the sea or a cabin in the mountains? Since I chose to retire to the mountains, I would have to say the mountains!
  4. Chocolate or cookies? Cookies! Such diversity of flavor although I do enjoy a dark chocolate with chili peppers!
  5. Do you shop online? Occasionally. I am at a stage in my life I do not wish to acquire new things!
  6. Do you have your own business or working for someone else? I have done both but am now retiredg
  7. Dogs or cats? I love them both but I currently do not have either. I have always enjoyed the independent nature of cats and the unconditional love of dogs.
  8. Cooking at home or eating outside? I much prefer cooking at home.

Questions for my nominees:

  1. What brings you joy?
  2. What do you fear?
  3. Do your feet ever touch the ground — literally?
  4. Are you a Hugger or a Touch-Me-Not?
  5. An apartment on the top of a skyscraper or a basement dwelling?
  6. As a child, what career did you see for yourself?
  7. What is the most beautiful sound?
  8. What inspires you?

My nominations — should you decide to accept:

  1. Jill from J-Dubs Grin and Bear It
  2. LolaWi from Something Beautiful
  3. Kate from D.Katie Powell Art

For all the readers of my blog, I thank you!

Day 316

Reblogging this painful and heartbreakingly accurate piece. Read it and weep. We have allowed gun violence to be the new face of America. Thank you, Laura, for writing such a powerful post.

Riddle from the Middle

1.  Where a white nationalist can walk into a Walmart with a semiautomatic weapon in freaking Texas where he slaughters twenty people and injures two dozen others in six minutes.

2.  Texas. A state where a Walmart holding up to three thousand people would have had more than its fair share of “good guys with guns”. And yet, to no one’s surprise, that didn’t help those folks who got shot by the bad guy.

3.  Where a white shooter can post a GD manifesto railing against immigrants in Texas and pushing the preservation of European identity in America and still the first words out of Trump’s mouth aren’t white nationalist, white supremacy, or gun violence.

4.  Because only in America is it more politically palatable to blatantly disregard publicly stated facts and blame mental illness.

5.  Where twelve hours of news coverage revolves around a crime scene, gunman, and casualty updates…
