Love is in Da Blog – Hardcore Love Song

Day 125

I decided I would not participate in Bee Halton’s Love is in Da Blog because it felt like pressure to do one more thing even though she was very kind and liberal in her rules not to feel pressured to participate every day. When I saw today’s topic, I could not resist.

Hardcore Love Song

The theme today reminded me of a time I was extremely unhappy. At nighttime, when my children were tucked in and asleep, I would put my Nazareth cassette tape in, plug the corded headphones in and mournfully sing along.

My children remember it well and tease me about it occasionally even now. Imagine the off-key mournful singing without the luxury of accompanying music my children woke up to. You know, when you have headphones on, you sing extra loud. My poor kids.

Today, thankfully, I am long removed from that situation. I still like the song when it comes on the radio. I sing along — sans headphones — but not so mournfully now.

Love doesn’t hurt anymore.

Love Hurts

Written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant

Love hurts, love scars, love wounds
And mars, any heart
Not tough or strong enough
To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain
Love is like a cloud
Holds a lot of rain
Love hurts…… ooh, ooh love hurts

I’m young, I know, but even so
I know a thing or two
And I learned from you
I really learned a lot, really learned a lot
Love is like a flame
It burns you when it’s hot
Love hurts…… ooh, ooh love hurts

Some fools think of happiness
Blissfulness, togetherness
Some fools fool themselves I guess
They’re not foolin’ me

I know it isn’t true, I know it isn’t true
Love is just a lie
Made to make you blue
Love hurts…… ooh, ooh love hurts
Ooh, ooh love hurts

I know it isn’t true, I know it isn’t true
Love is just a lie
Made to make you blue
Love hurts…… ooh, ooh love hurts
Ooh, ooh love hurts

Ooh, ooh
