Retreating

Day 65

The Beginning

We are still waiting for the impact of the storm. The arrival time of the heavy snow has been pushed later tonight. We have had some snow, but mixed with rain so much of it is melting as soon as it hits the ground.

Today I am retreating a bit. Lots of things on my mind and I am mentally drawn to be elsewhere at this moment. So, it is time to engage in a bit of self-care and see what tonight and tomorrow bring.

It’s times like this I really miss my sisters. I could pick up the phone and call at any time for anything. As much as I always tried to be there for them, they always tried to be there for me. Every relationship is not like that. There is a knowing in stillness and an understanding in listening.

For any and all who need prayer tonight, I pray for all of us. With those prayers, I retreat for a bit to think and to remember what is most important for me.

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn?
Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends?
Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven’t the answer to a
question you’ve been asked, or the hush of a country road at night,
or the expectant pause of a room full of people when
someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all,
the moment after the door closes and you’re alone in the whole house?
Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”
