Time Change Mornings

Day 31

I could do without the changing of the clocks and the whole Daylight Savings Time debacle. I understand all the reasons, but with more states considering doing away with it, I wonder what purpose it serves. It is a good reminder to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and that’s a good thing!

When I lived in Alaska years ago, the time difference was five hours. Our television was tape-delayed — meaning we usually got tv shows a day later than the lower 48. It was hard on the sports fanatics because they dared not turn the radio on or pick up a paper if they wanted to watch the game without knowing the outcome.

Morning Ramblings

The leaves are turning fast. Hubby and I decided to try to take another drive on the Parkway today, but we will go south this time and try to catch some color before all the leaves are gone.

Here’s something — I keep trying to get in the habit of emptying my dishwasher the first thing in the morning so all the dirty dishes are loaded directly into the dishwasher. But, I wake up and all I want is my first cup of coffee. Then it’s a chat with hubby and then maybe some breakfast and then it’s time for a shower. I just cannot seem to get it done. I think I detest emptying the dishwasher almost as much as I detest folding clothes out of the dryer. Big problems, I know,

The heart is a funny thing. When your heart is with someone who is somewhere distant, it can be hard to go about your day when all you really want is to be where they are. I am feeling that today.

Our temperature dropped to 38 degrees F overnight. That is our coolest temperature yet. We picked the last tomato off the vine yesterday. We still have some lettuce and some cilantro and maybe some dill left in the garden.

It won’t be long until all the trees drop their leaves and we will again hear the sound of the wind whistling through the trees. We live down off a major grade of the interstate. The summer foliage muffles the sounds of the trucks downshifting and the use of their compression brakes. It will be much more noticeable when the leaves are gone.

So, folks, that’s all I have this morning. Ramblings. Thanks for helping me clear my head. I wish you all a beautiful and peaceful day wherever you are.

“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have,
and only you can determine how it will be spent.
Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”
